《南方都市报》报导，大运会开幕式期间，面朝体育场馆的小区居民不得在家"逗留"，需离家约5小时，并且必须开灯。居民有几种选择：参加政府组织的活动，如到会所观看开幕式的电视直播；安排到一些景点去旅游；实在不愿离家，政府派出安保人员到其家中，陪他们一起度过这段时光。受此规定影响的居民约500户。大运会管理委员会称，原因是开幕式当晚有多位重量级贵宾。
